    A Sliding Thing Walkthrough

    Puzzles

Scorn is a strange, atmospheric puzzle game with an aesthetic that doesn’t take a degree in art history to recognize. Its fixed invisible grille
visuals are inspired by the biomechanical works of H.R. Giger, whose work in the Alien film franchise has been a major influence on Scorn’s style and tone.

Despite its mystifying, dark tone, Scorn is an immersive experience that rewards players with plenty of challenging puzzles. While the game’s puzzles may seem incomprehensible to those not used to more obscure puzzle-solving games like Myst, a little practice can go a long way.

This is especially true when it comes to the card game mechanics that are at the heart of this adventure. The first few puzzles are a good primer on the basic rules of the game, including how to play Skink and Ant cards.

The next few puzzles are about building up a deck of cards that’s capable of scoring five points in one round of the game. This requires you to use a couple of sigil types, Bifurcation and Sharp Quills, that are new to the game.

These sigils let a card attack lanes on either side of it. They also deal damage if the attacking card is blocked by another card.

You’ll want to keep that in mind as you solve the second puzzle, which has a lot of Ant cards in it. These cards have bug markers on them that indicate how much power they possess, so you’ll need to think about how many you’re using on the attack line.

As with Skinks, this is a puzzle that uses the Bifurcation sigil in conjunction with the other sigils on the cards to help you get to a position where you’re not only able to attack the lanes on both sides of it, but also make enough room for the Ants to score their two attacks.

Once you’ve solved the second puzzle, open the third drawer to find the Caged Wolf card, a card that’s essential for solving more of the puzzles in this section. After that, you’ll need to switch to Alex’s cabin from time to time to solve a chain of interconnected puzzles. You can brute-force these puzzles in a pinch, but if you really want to be prepared for later card games, the more you know about the game’s rules, the faster you’ll be able to solve the puzzles in this section.
    Hints

Slide puzzles are a lot of fun to play, but they can be tricky to figure out. If you’re having trouble, a few tips can help you move forward. For instance, you can assign a number to the tiles so you know which ones you need to move into their correct spots. Also, if you don’t see numbers on the tiles, try to look ahead to where you want them to end up in order to make a plan for how many moves you need to do to get there. This can make it much easier to solve your slide puzzle in a short amount of time.
