When dry, Clayboard is strong enough to support the weight of wet concrete and steel reinforcement.

Once the concrete has been set, water is introduced to the ‘Clayboard’ core, which degrades the ‘Clayboard’ honeycomb centre and eventually leads to the creation of a void, which will accommodate natural soil shrinkage and expansion without exerting undue pressure on the structure below. This space continues to absorb the movement of ground as the construction progresses, ensuring that the foundation is protected from subsequent heave.
