A makeup artist since she was 16, Kara Yoshimoto Bua explored a variety of interests as a child, including animals, nature, spirituality, music and art. After graduating high school, she got her first gigs working the makeup counter at department stores, which eventually led to collaborations with local photographers who needed headshots and commercial and theatrical makeup.

From there, she went on to do glam for Friends stars Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, whom she describes as “the loveliest intro to the celebrity world.” Today, her client roster is packed with A-list celebrities, and she does red carpet, editorial and campaigns. This year alone, she worked on campaigns for Dior, Tiffany & Co. and Jaeger-LeCoultre with Anya Taylor-Joy, and Longines with Jennifer Lawrence.
